Un amiguito nuevo (A new friend)

On Saturday, Caiden and I took a day trip to Houston to visit my friend Melanie and her 8 month old son, Anderson. Melanie is a friend from grad school and is also a Spanish teacher. She is in a similar situation as me since she is planning on raising Anderson bilingual and her husband doesn't speak Spanish. We talked a lot about the difficulties being non-native speakers and learning new words all the time. Another struggle is which Spanish to use: Spain, Latin American, Mexican... Our biggest contemplation of the day was how to say "flush the toilet". Funny, huh? I think it's quite appropriate since Caiden loves to flush the toilet now! Anyway, it's nice to know I'm not in this boat alone- although I wish she lived closer so we could hang out more!
On with the more interesting topic... the boys. Anderson is adorable, with chunky little legs that I wanted to just gobble up. I know that sounds kinda creepy, but some of you know what I mean. Caiden was running around playing with all of Anderson's toys and Anderson was just watching him ever so closely. I think he wanted to make sure that Caiden didn't take any home with him :) Here's a couple of pics of them:

We got to the airport to go home and our flight was a little delayed. I wanted to wear Caiden out anyway so he would be calm on the plane (The flight down there was a little crazy). So Caiden had a blast in the airport. First we got some pizza and fruit.

Then Caiden made hundreds of laps up and down the terminal, waving at everyone. And of course, had to find some new things to "play" with.

It was a great trip, but short, and I hope it won't be another 8 months before we see them!
