Caleb's baby dedication

On January 9, our church held it's annual baby dedication and blessing for the babies born last year.  There was a nice reception before the service with each table decorated with the babies pictures. Our church's childrens ministry theme is "Wild Ones Wild about Jesus" hence the animal print and stuffed animals.

Caleb- 7 months

-Weight: 15lbs 11 oz (with clothes on)
-Length: ?
-Diapers: size 2

-Clothes: 3-6 month size, and I'm starting to put him in some 9 month clothes although they are pretty big

- Sleeping:
Daytime: He's still taking 3-4 naps throughout the day. We not on a set schedule yet, but they are typically around 9am, 11am, 1-2pm and hopefully around 4pm. He naps in the car seat, stroller, pack-n-play, and sometimes in his crib.
Nighttime sleep is about the same as last month except he is getting up earlier :( usuallly he'll sleep from about 6:30pm-3am, eat, and then goes back to sleep until 6am. He is sleeping in his crib on his tummy.

-Eating: He's eating cereal with a fruit for breakfast, a fruit or vegetable for lunch and cereal with a vegetable for dinner. New foods this month were: peaches, bananas, mango, and rutabaga. For dinner he eats cereal and a vegetable. I am still making most of his food, but we do give him store-bought food at times. He is still nursing about 6 times a day as well.

New milestones:

• He is army crawling!  He will rock back and forth on his hands and knees, but then goes back to his belly and pulls with his arms and pushes with his toes to move.
• He's "kissed" me a few times. You know, those sloppy open-mouth suck on your cheek kisses.  They're the best :)

Other notes:

• I introducted his first finger food- Mum-Mums. It's like a rice cracker that melts in his mouth.  He seems to really like them!
• He took his first road trip this month (to KC for Christmas)
• He's getting really interested in toys! It will be interesting to see him try to play with Caiden's toys.
• Like most babies, he loves to chew- but even more than I remember it with Caiden.
• It's interesting to hear peoples' opinions on whether the boys look alike. One person will say they look exactly alike and then another person will say they look nothing alike!

Celebrating Christmas

I know I'm super late in posting about our Christmas festivities, but I haven't had much time to sit down at the computer! It really stresses me out though because now this post will be archived in January instead of December. Argh!

We ended up on a road trip on the Friday before Christmas to Kansas City to celebrate with my family because the flights were just terrible. The boys did amazingly well in the car. Caleb slept quite a bit, and Caiden entertained himself by talking, singing, and looking for trains and excavators out the window :) We held out on the DVD player until the last 1.5 hours of the trip! We made a couple stops at McDonalds' PlayPlace so Caiden could stretch his legs (and we could eat McRibs!).

We had just missed some snow up there so Papa took Caiden out to show him some snowballs. Since my son is so strange, he just wanted to hit the snow with a stick!

On Sunday, we went down to Crown Center and Union Station. My mom wanted to take Caiden to ride on the "old Jones store train" It's a train that my mom would ride on as a kid. They waited in line and when it was his turn, Caiden wouldn't ride it :( 

 Oh well, it wasn't a wasted trip because they had a model train exhibit that Caiden went crazy over.

 

And of course, we found Thomas!

After that, we went to my sisters house to decorate cookies. Caiden had such a blast the whole time with his cousins Ethan and Addison.

Christmas Eve we always go to the Glamann side of the family (my dad). It's always fun because there's lots of family that we don't see often.

Caiden had a very "Thomas" Christmas, and loved it! 

It was nice spending time with our family this year, especially since we couldn't travel last year!

Verse of the week

(I am in the process of getting caught up on blogging from the holidays! My last post was Caleb's 6 moth milestones and he will be 7 months in two days!Yikes!)

One of my New Year's Resolutions is to memorize a Bible passage each week. I've been wanting to dig more into scripture lately and my favorite blogger shared a post about Foundation Verses and I thought I'd give it a try. It's a set of verses specifically for young children with picture prompts to help memory retention. I can't imagine that Caiden will actually memorize 52 Bible verses this year, but I think it will be good to introduce it to him.

So here's week 1:

Do you want to join me in this endeavor? I challenge you to include your kids as well. I am going to draw the picture prompt and write the passage on our chalkboard each week and practice the verse every night at dinner.
