Father's Day 2013

Eric wanted to celebrate Father's Day by taking the boys to the Dove Spray Park. We all had lots of fun splashing around!  I'm so thankful to have Eric as a wonderful father to my children!

 

Wedded Bliss

May 31 Eric and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary!  I can't believe how the time flies!  Since we've been married, we have experienced MANY wonderful blessings.

• we moved to another state,
• both got our Masters degrees,
• travelled to 4 countries and many cities in the US
• bought a house
• bought 2 cars (not at the same time)
• grew our family, adding 2 beautiful boys

Those are just the major things, but we thank God daily for all the blessings he has bestowed on us, our marriage and our family!

 

 

 

And of course, Eric just had to surprise me (after saying "no gifts") with an anniversary band.

Caleb's First Birthday: part 2

We celebrated Caleb's birthday again the Saturday after his actual birthday. We had his party at the Southlake campus of our church and I think it was a great place for parties. It's very reasonable in price, had a playscape for little kids, a game room with video games, air hockey etc for big kids and a nice area for adults to sit.

His party theme was The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and once again I enjoyed being crafty with it. Pinterest was FULL of ideas because it seems to be a popular party theme for 1-2 yr olds.

The invite:

The food:

Many parties I found on Pinterest with this theme incorporate the food in the story of the book, but I chose not to go that route. Since the party was 10am, I decided on some breakfast type foods. We had muffins, cinnamon roll twists, fruit, and the ever-popular chicken mini biscuits from Chick-Fil-A.  Note the awesome runner that I forced my mom and sister to make :) They were BIG helps!

 

 

The Decor:

 

On each of the little cafe tables, there was a pail of candy with a little snippet of the story. Each candy represented the food that the caterpillar ate on a certain day.

I didn't get a close-up picture of his 12 month photo banner, but each part of the caterpillar body had one of Caleb's monthly photos.

 

 

There was also a balloon caterpillar hanging, but I didn't get a picture of it at the party. So you can see it at my house :)

 



 

 

Desserts:

My foodie friend, Erin, helped out once again making the cupcakes to form the caterpillar body, and the head was Caleb's "smash" cake. She also made us some mini cupcakes!

 

 

Instead of cutout sugar cookies like I've done for other parties, I made chocolate covered oreo caterpillars!

The Favors:
Using my "Mighty Machine" I personalized some sand pails with some other toys. The quilt displayed is the quilt my mom made for Caleb before he was born!

The Fun:
We had lots of fun at the party and hope our guests did too!

One activity was to create your very own "Hungry Caterpillar" bookmark.
