A Pinterest Project: Cupcake liner wreath

When I saw this wreath on Pinterest, I knew I wanted to try it for Valentine's Day. Click the link below the picture for the original tutorial.

Tatortots & Jello
You could easily make one of these for any holiday with themed cupcake liners or an everyday wreath using solids or patterned liners.

Here's how mine turned out:

I used a 8" foam wreath form, 150 cupcake liners, hot glue and thumbtacks. I followed most of the tutorial, but got tired of waiting for the hot glue to dry. So I used flat thumb tacks and the process went much faster. I think the result is the same. Also, I didn't add the embellishment, but may add that next year. (PS. I don't take good pictures so the lighting is bad and it looks like there are dark spots on the wreath, but there really weren't!)

Happy Valentine's Day

Like most of our holidays, when they fall during the middle of the week, we tend to celebrate in phases.
The weekend before Valentine's Day, I finally got the last of my decorations put up. I didn't do too much, but wanted a few things to make it look a little more festive.

Eric and the boys got me roses, chocolates and a calla lily plant, but I didn't take a picture of them like I normally do :(

Caiden had school on the actual day, so he took some Valentine's to share with his friends and some "bear hugs" for his teachers. Thanks to  Pinterest and Lil Luna.

Here's my two love bugs in their festive shirts.

Throughout the week I tried to do a few "structured" activities with Caiden about the holiday. He wasn't too into most of them, but he did like the sensory tub.
We did some sorting/stringing of heart shaped beads, cutting practice to make valentines, toilet paper roll heart painting and the sensory tub with pink rice, some colored pasta and other goodies. Caleb wanted to get in on the sensory tub action, but we had to keep him busy with baby safe toys.

I don't normally do photo cards in general, let alone for Valentine's Day, but I had some credit to spend with shutterfly, so I made these cute cards to send to some family.

Caleb- 8 months

-Weight: not sure
-Length: about 27"
-Diapers: size 2

-Clothes: mainly 6-9 month clothes although the pants are too long. I've tried some of the 6-12 month size from GAP and Old Navy but they are super big!

- Sleeping:
Daytime: morning naps are pretty irregular. If we are home, he will nap an hour to hour and a half. If we go out in the morning to Stroller Strides or to take Caiden to school, he will usually fall asleep in the car and take a shorter nap. He will usually take a decent nap in the afternoon, but I have yet to get him and Caiden on the same schedule :( Caleb is usually waking up just after Caiden goes down.
Nighttime sleep is still the same 6:30pm- 6am. About half the nights he will wake up once to nurse, and half the nights he will sleep through.

-Eating: He's eating cereal with a fruit for breakfast, a fruit or vegetable for lunch and cereal with a vegetable and now a protein for dinner. New foods this month were: apricot, papaya, blueberry, zucchini, white potato, cauliflower, chicken and beef.  He is still nursing about 6 times a day as well.

New milestones:
  • Still army crawling- but he's really fast now
  • He's taking baths in the big bathtub!

  • He's eating morefinger foods: puffs, yogurt melts, freeze-dried fruit

  • He is pulling up!  Way too soon for this- please slow down little guy, you're supposed to be my BABY!

Other notes:

  • We lowered his crib since he started pulling up.
  • He went to the nursery at church for the first time during my ladies Bible study.
  • He's getting really interested in toys! It's interesting to see him try to play with Caiden's toys.
  • He is such a happy baby! He loves being able to crawl and play and explore. He wants to be wherever Caiden is, and play with his toys of course. We have to be careful because he wants to put everything in his mouth, so we really have to watch what is on the floor.
  • He was dedicated at our church on January 9.
As he's growing:

Bounce, Bounce, Bounce

Caiden loves to jump!  Luckily, Santa brought him a trampoline for Christmas so he can bounce at home.

A few weeks ago we made to trip a bounce house place with our friends Ashley & Savannah. Caleb even had a good time :)

And last week, we went to toddler time at Urban Air Trampoline Park with Plum Moms Club! Caiden liked it even better, and Caleb wanted to get out and jump too!

Happy Birthday Eric!

Eric's birthday was last Thursday (January 31st) so we got to split up the celebration a little. The Saturday before his birthday, we got a sitter and went on a date!  It was so nice to get out of the house for a bit! We went to  and went to see Argo at the theater. Before the movie started, we had a little fun in the arcade playing air hockey (Eric won) and getting our pictures taken in the photo booth.

On Eric got home from work on his birthday, Caiden couldn't wait to show daddy his "birthday party" (the package he had gotten). Caleb wanted in on the action as well.

Caiden had also picked out a Mickey Mouse balloon for him too.

After dinner, we sung Happy Birthday and ate yummy homemade Key Lime Cheesecake!

Eric's team hadn't known it was his birthday on Thursday, but found out later that day, so when Eric arrived at work on Friday, they were blowing up 350 balloons for his cube!

Hope he has a wonderful year! I'm so thankful to have him as my husband and father of my boys! Love you Eric!
