Caiden's 2 year Stats

Caiden had his 2 year check-up today and he is such a big boy!  Luckily he is current on his vaccinations so no shots, YAY!

He weighed 27 lbs, which is the 40th percentile. This is big, because he has been in the 25th percentile or below for most of his life!  Guess he likes momma's cooking!

He measured 35", which is the 70th percentile (another significant jump from previous measurements).

His head is still the 95th percentile so he is a brainiac!

His pediatrician said that he is doing wonderful with all of the age appropriate developmental milestones, and of course his momma thinks he's the smartest 2-year-old around :)

Thomas the Train comes to Grapevine

In Grapevine, there is a historic railway that they have special train rides throughout the year. Thomas the Train is one of the major attractions each spring, so we thought we'd check it out for Caiden's birthday. You can actually take a 25 minute ride on Thomas and then at the depot there are fun activities for the kids to do.
In front of Thomas himself! (we are looking the other way, bc we were actually smiling for a photographer
Enjoying the train ride with Nana
Caiden loved taking the motorized trains off their tracks and sending them across the table!

Easter 2012

I was a big slacker this year for Easter! No Easter bunny pics, no Easter basket with gifts for Caiden and only one egg hunt. So I guess it's only fitting that I'm blogging about it more than 2 weeks late!  Oh, well. It's not like we don't have anything going on in our lives! Anyway, I just wanted to share a few pictures that I did get of Caiden at our Plum Mom's Club Easter Egg hunt. Fortunately, Eric was off work for Good Friday so he got to join in the fun. Also, a big thanks to Mary Teel for the Easter tie shirt!
off to hunt!

This doesn't look like the other eggs, but I'll grab it anyway!

Breaking a confetti egg on Aami's head!

Notice he's going the opposite direction that Eric is pointing :)

Upcycled bookcase- a practice project

Since the room for the nursery is so large, we decided to "upcycle" some furniture that we already own to use for storage and to fill up the space a little. Since it didn't really go with the color of the nursery I am having to paint it. Now, I'm not very savvy with paint and not much of a heavy duty DIYer, so I thought I should probably practice first. Luckily, my mom and Geno are awesome DIYers so I rely on them heavily as a resource!

The tricky thing is the the pieces are laminate, with I wasn't sure if you could paint that out not, but thanks to the wonderful world of Pinterest, I found a tutorial. We had this bookshelf sitting in a closet not really being used, so I thought I'd use that to practice painting and then use it on our landing for toy and book storage.

Here is the before picture. There is also a self that goes in it.

I think everything went pretty well, except that when we went to put the shelf it, it was too tight of fit now so it scratched off a bunch of the paint.

So, I did a little touch up and Voila!

Also, in case you are wondering, I didn't paint the inside back of it, because it was that cardboardy material. I wasn't sure how it would hold up to that much paint, so I found some scrapbook paper to decoupage onto it. Here is the link to the Painted Laminate tutorial I used in case you are interested in trying it out.
So what do you think? Not too shabby for my first "big girl" painting project, huh? Now... onto the nursery furniture!

28 weeks

How far along? 28 weeks (7 months)
How big is the baby? almost 15" long and should be about 2.25 lbs
Are you in maternity clothes? Pretty much wearing all maternity clothes. Eric teases me about my workout clothes because they really aren't fitting, but I do not want to buy any!
How do you feel physically? Still itchy, belly button is very shallow now, and got some new varicose veins on my booty (I know, TMI). I feel like within the last week, I've grown a crazy big belly (you can see the difference in the pic below)
Sleep? I keep waking up about 3 or 4 am and my mind is racing
Miss anything? the occasional beer and being able to chase Caiden with ease!
Feeling movement of the baby? there is some crazy kicking going on. I've identified either an elbow or a knee moving across at times.
Food cravings? salty foods, chocolate
Gender of the baby? It's a boy!
Mood? A little anxious about how fast time is going by. Caiden was born at 38 weeks so if the same holds true, we've only got 10 weeks left- Yikes!
